Paleochora restaurants: seafood, vegetarian cooking and beachside meals

Three ways to eat in Paleochora: harbour seafood at Caravella, vegetarian cooking at Third Eye since 1990, and beachside meals at Zephyros.

Quick answer: Paleochora is small but eats well. Caravella serves fish from local boats by the harbour, Third Eye has been cooking vegetarian food since 1990, and Zephyros is a family restaurant right on the sandy Pachia Ammos beach.

Caravella

Caravella has been run by the same family since 1989, right by the sea at the port. Fish and seafood come from local boats and fishers, alongside local meat and home-cooked dishes. Ask what came in that day.

Third Eye

Third Eye opened in 1990 and describes itself as Greece's first vegetarian restaurant. The menu is entirely vegetarian, with vegan, gluten-free and nut-free dishes marked, and ranges from Greek to Asian-inspired dishes such as curries. It is about a minute from the sandy beach, open in the evening, closed on Tuesdays, and usually seasonal from April to October.

Zephyros

Zephyros, established in 1991, is a family-run restaurant with its own serviced beach on Pachia Ammos. It works well for a long lunch between swims.

Tips

Paleochora's main street closes to traffic in the evening, and tables spill into the road. Many places close in winter, so check before travelling out of season.
