Who we are
TripToCrete (triptocrete.com) is an independent travel guide to Crete, run from Chania, Crete, Greece. We do not sell anything ourselves and you do not need an account to use the site. For any privacy question or request, contact us through our Contact page.
What happens when you visit
Our hosting provider, Hostinger, keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time, to deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not use these logs to identify visitors.
The weather and sea forecasts on the site are loaded by your browser from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), which receives your IP address but does not set cookies.
Your cookie choices
On your first visit a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Google Analytics does not load before you accept, and you can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. Your choice is stored in your browser for 6 months.
- Necessary: one entry in your browser’s local storage (ttc_consent) remembers your choice. It is not sent to us.
- Statistics (optional): Google Analytics 4 (tag G-YYNWD5MMJB) shows us which pages are read and how visitors find the site. It loads only if you click “Accept” and then sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_YYNWD5MMJB, which last up to 2 years. Google processes this data under its own policies: How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Booking partners: the live car rental search on our car rental pages is provided by Localrent, and the tour listings by GetYourGuide. They load from the partners’ servers together with the page. These partners receive your IP address and browser details and store their own identifiers, for example Localrent’s __eventn_id, __eventn_uid and session_id cookies and GetYourGuide’s partner_id, userUUID and gyg_visitor_id entries, to run the search, measure its use and credit bookings to us.
Bookings and affiliate commission
TripToCrete is not a car rental company or a tour operator. If you book a car through Localrent or a tour through GetYourGuide, the booking and the personal details you enter are handled by that partner under its own terms and privacy policy. We may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Partners report bookings to us as statistics, without your name or payment details.
Legal basis
We rely on your consent for Google Analytics (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Article 4(5) of Greek Law 3471/2006) and on our legitimate interest in running a secure website and offering our partners’ booking tools (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time; this does not affect processing that took place before.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict its processing, and withdraw your consent. Because we do not run user accounts, most data about your visit is held by Google, Localrent or GetYourGuide, and you can also contact them directly. You have the right to complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (dpa.gr).
Children
TripToCrete is a general travel guide and is not aimed at children under 15.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when the site or its partners change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
