The beach
Domata sits at the mouth of the Klados gorge. The shore is fine pebbles under tall rock walls whose roof-like shapes give the beach its name. Pine trees reach the back of the beach and the water is deep and very clear.
A rocky section to the south, called Kolotrividis, is separated from the main bay. There are no sunbeds, no taverna and no fresh water supply, so bring everything you need.
How to get there
On foot, the E4 coastal trail from Sougia climbs to around 700 m before descending, so treat it as a serious full-day hike with plenty of water. From Agia Roumeli the walk is about three to four hours.
The easier option is a boat: in summer a boat taxi can often be arranged in Sougia or Agia Roumeli. Ask locally the day before, as trips depend on demand and sea conditions.
Plan it safely
Mobile signal is patchy and help is far away. Start early, tell someone your plan, carry more water than you think and avoid the hike in the midday heat of July and August.
