Bali's four beaches
Bali sits on a west-facing bay with four sandy coves. Coming into the village you pass Livadi first (the longest), then Varkotopos in front of the centre, then Limani by the harbour, and finally little Karavostasi at the northern tip.
Springs from the Psiloritis range feed into the bay, so the water is cooler than you might expect. The bay's orientation keeps the sea calm on most days.
Limani
Limani is the most convenient of the four: park once and you have the beach, the harbour and a row of restaurants and cafés within a few steps. Sunbeds, a lifeguard and showers operate in summer.
Small boats leave from the harbour for trips to nearby beaches.
Getting there and nearby
The Rethymno–Heraklion national road passes just above the village, and buses stop there. The Attali monastery is about 1.6 km away on the hill, and Melidoni cave is around 6 km inland.
