Piato
Piato occupies the second floor of an 1886 building on the waterfront, with a balcony over the sea and Lake Voulismeni and a garden at the back. The cooking is creative Greek: traditional ingredients and dish names, modern technique and plated dishes rather than shared platters. The signature is sea bass 'a la polita' with artichoke purée, and the 12-hour pork neck finished with petimezi is a favourite.
The wine list is entirely Greek and received a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 2026. Dinner is served from 18:00 Monday to Saturday and from 14:00 on Sunday; book by phone or online.
Gioma Meze
Gioma Meze, at Dionysiou Solomou 12, describes itself as a Cretan wine restaurant with a lake view. Fresh fish is the focus, along with traditional dishes with modern touches; grilled octopus is the dish reviewers mention most. It is open daily from midday to midnight.
To Potiraki
To Potiraki, on Eleftheriou Venizelou Square a few steps from the sea, mixes a traditional kafeneio with a meze restaurant. Come for breakfast and coffee, or later for handmade meze, sharing dishes and raki. It opens from early morning until after midnight.
Tips
Restaurants on the lake itself charge for the view. Walk one street back for more ordinary prices, and save the lakeside for a drink at sunset.
