Big and Small Triopetra
Big Triopetra, west of the rocks, is a long beach of coarse sand facing the open sea; it gets waves when the wind is up. Small Triopetra (also called Koumado), east of the rocks, is more sheltered and has the tavernas and rooms.
Parts of both beaches are unorganised, so you can always find space.
Getting there
Take the Rethymno–Agia Galini road and turn off after about 40 km toward Akoumia, then follow the signs down. The Akoumianos river mouth separates Triopetra from the Agios Pavlos sand dunes.

Sunset and rules
Triopetra faces west along the coast, so sunsets are long. Free camping is not allowed.
