The coves
The beach is a set of small fine-pebble coves framed by tall boulders, with clear, usually calm water that is good for snorkelling. The Stavros taverna on the beach serves fresh fish, rents rooms and provides umbrellas and showers for its customers.
On the hill above the taverna are the ruins of ancient Kionia; part of the old town lies underwater just off the shore.
A short walk inland
Follow the path north along the stream into a small green wood. Past a very tall palm tree you reach the old chapel of Agia Fotini, about 50 m further on. A rocky path also runs west along the shore from the taverna.
Getting there and the coast beyond
The asphalt road from Kerames ends at the harbour. From there a dirt track continues south-east along the Kerames coast to Podare, Glima and Pahia Ammos, all within a couple of kilometres. Preveli is about 3.6 km away and Triopetra about 4 km.
