The harbour beach
Sissi's coastline is mostly rock, and the open sea is often wavy. The little beach inside the harbour, framed by the narrow inlet and its waterfront cafés and tavernas, is the calm alternative. It is very small, with a few umbrellas and showers.
Other Sissi beaches
Heading east: Boufos, sandy and well organised in Harkoma bay but exposed to wind; little Avlaki next to it; Kalimera, in front of a hotel, with shallow water; and Spiliada, sandy with tamarisks and the quietest.
Nearby
Milatos is about 3.5 km east, with its own harbour beach and the historic Milatos cave. Malia and its Minoan palace are around 7 km west.
