Plakias
Plakias is the village beach, long and partly sandy, with tavernas and shops behind it. The bay funnels the wind, so it is often breezy in the afternoon. Best if you want to walk to everything.
Damnoni
Damnoni, around the headland to the east, is a long bay of whitish sand that is usually calmer. Sunbeds, water sports and a diving centre make it the easiest full beach day.

Ammoudi
Ammoudi is small, with thick white sand, a rocky seabed and vivid green water. It gets busy, but it is the best of the three for snorkelling. Ammoudaki and Klisidi coves are next to it.
On the day
If the wind is up, go to Damnoni. If you want a long walk and dinner without driving, stay at Plakias. For snorkelling, go early to Ammoudi, and continue to Schinaria.
