What to expect
Peskesi is one of the best-known places in Heraklion for traditional Cretan food done carefully: old recipes, local cheeses and olive oil, vegetables and meat from the restaurant's own farm. The restored mansion has several rooms and a courtyard.
Plan your visit
It is popular, so book for dinner, especially at weekends. Opening days and seasons change. Check with the restaurant before you go, especially outside July and August.
Getting there
Kapetan Charalampi is a short walk from the Lions Square (Morosini Fountain) and 25th August street. Combine dinner with an evening walk to the Venetian harbour.
