The village

A paved road drops from the main road through Sfaka to the water. Mochlos has a few streets, rooms and a row of seafood tavernas facing the islet: the reason most people come.

Beaches

The small village beach is sand and rock. Limenaria, about 400 m west near the harbour, is more sheltered. The coast is often windy; strong swimmers sometimes cross to the islet on calm days.

Minoan Mochlos

The islet was joined to the mainland in Minoan times and held an important settlement and cemetery. The excavated remains are visible from the village.

Nearby

The islet of Psira, another Minoan site, is 3.6 km offshore. In Myrsini, nearby, a Venetian tower is associated with the Kornaros family.
