The building
The stone walls of Ela have stood since the Venetian period. Over the centuries the building served as a soap factory, a school, a wine cellar and distillery, and a cheese and sweets factory. Today you eat inside its open-air walls.
What to eat
Reviewers recommend the slow-cooked lamb with potatoes and the Greek salad. Live music plays most evenings in season, and a little fruit or dessert with raki usually arrives with the bill. Opening days and seasons change. Check with the restaurant before you go, especially outside July and August.
Getting there
Walk into the old town: from Halidon street, turn into Baladinou and follow the lanes to Kondylaki street. Kritamon, another old-town favourite, is on the same street.
