The beach
Livadi takes its name from the valley of meadows behind it. The sand is long and wide, with sunbeds, water sports, a lifeguard and showers, and hotels and tavernas behind it.
Because the bay is more open, the sea here gets choppier than at Varkotopos or Limani on windy days. At its eastern end are two small coves called Kouskouras.
Getting there
Livadi is the first beach on the road into Bali from the national road, with parking nearby. Buses between Rethymno and Heraklion stop at the Bali junction above the village.
Bali's other beaches
Varkotopos, Limani and Karavostasi are all within about 1 km to the north, each more enclosed and calmer than Livadi.
