The cove
Loutraki faces into Souda Bay, so it is protected from the summer north wind. The sand is fine, the water clear and calm, and there is a grassy area with sunbeds as well as the beach itself.
The beach bar on the terrace runs the show, with music and food through the day. Come for a lively afternoon rather than silence.
Getting there
You need a car or taxi. Follow the road toward Marathi from the Akrotiri airport junction and take the turn just before Marathi. Parking is along the access road.

Marathi next door
Marathi, a few hundred metres away, has two small sandy beaches, fish tavernas by its little harbour and a view across the bay to the White Mountains. Together they make an easy half day.
Questions before you go
Is Loutraki beach organised?
Yes. The beach bar provides sunbeds on the sand and on a lawn above it.
Is Loutraki beach sheltered?
Yes. It is on the Souda Bay side of Akrotiri, away from the north wind.
Can I reach Loutraki by bus?
Not directly. Buses go to Marathi in summer; otherwise drive or take a taxi.
