Lyrarakis
Lyrarakis, in Alagni, has focused on single-variety wines from rare Cretan grapes such as Dafni, Plyto and Melissaki. Visits offer wine tastings from €22, olive oil tastings and a picnic in the vineyard. From April to October it is open daily 11:30–19:00; in winter, by request.
Douloufakis
Douloufakis is in Dafnes, about 18 km south of Heraklion. The YAMAS tasting (€30) includes a tour of the winery and six wines, among them the Cretan Vidiano and Liatiko, with rusks; a cheese platter can be added. Tours start at 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00 and must be booked.
Paterianakis
Paterianakis is at about 600 m in Melesses, in the Peza wine zone. Its vineyards have been farmed since 1988 and are certified organic. Contact the estate in advance to arrange a tour.
